Not Ready for the Farm is a weekly video podcast available on all major platforms. Hosted by Judy Miller and her co-host Jess, the show explores the universal journey of aging through thoughtful, candid conversations with a wide range of esteemed guests.
Produced in Pittsboro, North Carolina, in the private offices of 79°West, the podcast has welcomed guests from across the country to share their experiences as caregivers and to discuss life beyond retirement. As Judy Miller explains, “The conversations are often painfully honest, but ultimately empowering and inspirational for those in their senior years.”
Who is Judy Miller?
Judy Miller—host, writer, and director—has lived many lives across her 78 years. Her diverse career spans roles as a lawyer, entertainment producer, real estate developer, college instructor, inventor, strategic business consultant, and corporate CEO. Today, she brings that wealth of experience to her work as a podcast host, guiding meaningful conversations about aging, purpose, and what comes next.

When her doctor at Duke told her, “Judy, I’ll be with you ’til the end,” it was a jarring moment—one that forced Judy Miller to confront something she had long avoided: she was getting older.
Until then, Miller hadn’t given much thought to retirement, where she might live if she could no longer live independently, or even the realities of aging and mortality. That wake-up call became the spark behind Not Ready For The Farm. Each episode is rooted in that realization, opening the door to honest conversations about aging—topics many of us tend to avoid.
Get to know the crew
The Not Ready For The Farm team is small but mighty. With just a handful of dedicated individuals behind the scenes, the group brings big ambition and heart to every episode.

Jess Anderson, Judy Miller’s co-host and “sidekick,” offers a Gen X perspective that balances the conversation. Her warm, bubbly personality helps bring levity to even the heaviest topics. Jess is also well known in the community as the mayor of Chapel Hill and a professor of public policy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Jenna Dunning serves as the production’s director and editor. A graduate of Appalachian State University with a degree in Electronic Media Broadcasting, she manages filming, editing, and weekly distribution—powered, no doubt, by plenty of caffeine.
Rebecca Parrilla is the associate producer and guest coordinator. She works closely with Judy Miller to book guests, prepare interview questions, and support both hosts throughout the production process.
Karthik Shyam handles web design and social media for Not Ready For The Farm. A close friend of Judy Miller and the husband of Jess Anderson, he plays a key role in bringing the podcast to its digital audience.
Keith Sherman is the show’s public relations representative and another longtime friend of Judy Miller. He leads Keith Sherman & Associates, a firm that has worked with major names including The New York Times, the Tony Awards, and the Banksy Museum.
