79°West Welcomes Fresh Art for the Season!
79°West is thrilled to showcase the stunning new collection of local art for this quarter, featuring the talented Randi Markowitz and Vidabeth Bensen of the Chatham Artists Guild. Their vibrant, abstract works beautifully complement one another, while each piece carries a distinct flair that highlights the individual creativity and unique style of both artists. This dynamic collection is a true reflection of their artistic vision and adds a bold, colorful energy to our space.
Randi Markowitz
Randi Markowitz's desire is to "create a colorful, nuanced layering of natural elements that contrast so that each piece can be interpreted in many ways." Randi often uses acrylic paints, acrylic pens, paper, glitter, and all types of ephemera to create her artwork and recently has been trying to combine these materials to broaden her techniques.
Markowitz sneaks messages of inspiration in a lot of her work. She strongly believes in the power of language, which is why each piece contains an inspirational saying or poem. If you don't see it right away, look closer and try and decode the message.

Vidabeth Bensen
Bensen’s original screen prints reflect many years of overseas travel and explorations of color, texture and composition creating abstract impressions. Her art ranges from framed and unframed prints, limited edition calendars, cards and T-shirts which are all available in her studio. Each piece is hand pulled, using stencils created from hand cut film, paper, or painted directly on the screen with drawing fluid and screen filler.
Vidabeth Bensen was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She shared on her website that she was was a quiet, shy child, drawing all the time. Her father was a sports writer and would bring home newsprint and large dark pencils used for editing, her mother said I drew from the time I was about two years-old.

If you would like the opportunity to meet the minds behind this beautiful work you will have a chance to pick their brains at the Artist Guild Reception. The reception will take place in our common area on April 18th. Join us and celebrate local art!
