Who is Trevor Shepard?
Trevor Shepard is a well-known Chatham County resident, an active community member and shares lived experience as an autistic adult. Trevor has been 79°West’s Maintenance Worker for over a year and has made a genuine effort to get to know every tenant in the building. Trevor takes pride in building relationships with entrepreneurs, small business owners, and community leaders. As a photographer himself, you may even find him deep in conversation with members of the Chatham Artist Guild.
The work Trevor does with the support from his caregiver, Kayla Barth, is deeply appreciated by the entire 79°West team. In busy work environments where administrative tasks can easily pile up, Trevor plays a vital role in keeping the space clean, organized, and running smoothly.

The Day-to-Day
Trevor and Kayla Barth, arrive around 9 a.m. with the rest of the workforce. He begins his shift by collecting and distributing mail to tenants, then moves on to unloading and loading the dishwasher, replenishing coffee, taking out the trash, and cleaning the bathrooms. Once the space is tidy, he restocks snacks and drinks throughout the building.
Trevor spends half of his day working at 79°West and the other half volunteering at C.O.R.A., Pittsboro’s local food bank. He has been volunteering there for over a year and has built meaningful relationships with fellow volunteers and staff.
While balancing work and volunteering can be tiring, Trevor does make time for himself. You can often find him playing pool at The Mod downtown, cheering on his favorite NFL team—the Philadelphia Eagles—or spending time with his family.
Work Together NC
Work Together NC is a statewide initiative focused on supporting people like Trevor with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) as they transition into adulthood and the workforce.
